Description
Cancer Support Community North Texas (CSCNT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting and strengthening people impacted by cancer through support, compassionate community, and barrier-free care, seeks a strategic and results-driven Development Director.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Development Director leads CSCNT’s fundraising, donor engagement, and advancement strategy to meet ambitious growth and revenue goals. This role is responsible for building a sustainable and diversified funding model while strengthening organizational infrastructure, donor stewardship, and community visibility.
The Development Director oversees all fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, business development, major gifts, planned giving, special events, donor stewardship, and prospect strategy. This leader also guides integrated marketing and communications efforts that position CSCNT as a leading and trusted nonprofit within the competitive North Texas philanthropic landscape.
The Development Director supervises the Development Manager, Communications & Marketing Manager, and Grants Writer (contract), while collaborating closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, staff, consultants, and volunteers. Travel throughout the DFW Metroplex is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute a comprehensive development strategy to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals.
- Align fundraising priorities with CSCNT’s strategic vision and organizational objectives.
- Build and strengthen sustainable fundraising systems, infrastructure, reporting, and donor management processes.
- Develop and grow annual, major, and planned giving programs.
- Co-lead business development efforts to expand CSCNT partnerships with healthcare systems, corporations, schools, and local businesses to increase funding, referrals, visibility, and community engagement.
- Manage and actively cultivate a personal portfolio of major donors and high-capacity prospects.
- Partner with and support the CEO and Board of Directors in donor cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising engagement.
- Oversee donor communications, stewardship strategies, and integrated fundraising campaigns.
- Provide leadership, accountability, and professional development to development and communications staff.
- Direct grant strategy and accountability for contract grant-writing support.
- Establish clear donor portfolio management and moves-management expectations across the development function.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 7–10 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising leadership experience, preferably within DFW
- Demonstrated success securing major gifts and leading comprehensive fundraising programs.
- Experience with donor stewardship, annual campaigns, corporate/foundation giving, and planned giving strategies.
- CFRE certification required or obtained within a defined timeframe of employment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising CRM systems (Gnosis preferred).
